Keiki Tide Pool Table

Keiki in Hawaiian means child. Tide pools are where many learned how to swim as keiki and explore the diversity and abundance of life. They are perfect micro-ecosystems full of complexity and fascination. These important coastal features serve as temporary nurseries for small fish and invertebrates. They are also teeming with algae.

This piece is inspired by days spent with children around tide pools and letting ourselves be keiki at heart as much as we can.

The table is made from a Monkey Pod "cookie" from Waimea Valley. Crushed malachite stone "algae" surrounds the glassy surfaces of the pools. Sexy legs are made from Yellow Poinciana wood from Haleiwa.

36" Diameter X 18"H

Partial proceeds go to local non-profits involved in Native Hawaiian Forest Restoration and Watershed Protection.
